I can't wait to handsell this book. Like many aspiring vegans, I know there are hundreds of reasons (including and addition to the health-related ones) to adopt a vegan diet. In Protest Kitchen, readers learn how their food choices relate to politics, health, economics, pollution, the environment, misogyny, and so much more--this is fascinating stuff. I love the way the book combines recipes with recommended actions for people who want to make a change (even if they're not quite ready to adopt all the suggestions quite yet!).
Protest Kitchen: Fight Injustice, Save the Planet, and Fuel Your Resistance One Meal at a Time by Carol J. Adams, Virginia Messina ($16.95*, Conari Press), recommended by Avid Bookshop, Athens, GA.
