From The Island Reporter The Island Book Nook will reopen in mid-October under new ownership. The new owners, Melanie and Jan Wiford, hail from Ohio and are relocating to the Fort Myers area at the end of the month. They plan to operate the book store in the same fashion as the former owner, Joan Simonds. The store has been closed since the unexpected death of Simonds. “We look forward to reviving and carrying on the icon that Joan built,” Melanie Wiford said. Mary Gayle Skinner will serve as store manager. The business will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located in the Hungry Heron Plaza at 2330 Palm Ridge Road, Suite #11.
