Huge author event on Feb. 7 - benefit for local kids theatre The Page & Palette Foundation is hosting a fundraiser in conjunction with Trenton Stewart's visit on February 7 from 3-5 p.m. Sponsored by Veranda Realty, the signing event will be at Centennial Hall, located on Faulkner State's Fairhope Campus. On February 7th, bestselling children's author Trenton Stewart will visit Fairhope to sign his latest book, The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma. Page & Palette secured a visit from this highly-coveted author by winning a national contest. The challenge was to create an "engaging and entertaining in-store display" showcasing the Mysterious Benedict series and national release date of the latest book. Page & Palette's unique and creative display - which was developed by a group of innovate fourth grade students - secured a visit from Trenton Stewart, as well as a host of giveaways for members of our newly formed Mysterious Page & Palette Society. Jitterbug Theater also recently received national attention - Mulan, Jr. was one of four shows chosen to be presented and performed at the Southeastern Theatre Conference's Theatre for Youth Festival. The largest theatre conference in the country, SETC brings together various forms of theatre for youth: professional theatre companies, college students learning the challenge of performing for young audiences and new plays along side proven classics. Only three or four theatre companies are selected to present their material each year. They rarely invite productions with casts comprised of mostly children, but they were so impressed with Mulan, Fairhope's young performers were asked to attend This year's festival will be held March 4, 2010 in Lexington, Kentucky. With over 45 cast members, money for hotel and travel expenses must be raised in order for Mulan performers to attend. Tickets for the event will be $5; ticket proceeds AND a percentage of Mysterious Benedict book sales will go toward the cast's travel expenses. Donations can be sent to the Page & Palette Foundation, c/o Jitterbug Theater, 32 South Section Street, Fairhope, AL 36532
