Christopher Headen will discuss and sign copies of his new book, The Vision to Serve, at the Regulator Bookshop on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. The Vision to Serve explores the ten basic tenets of public service, myths about public service, and how every day people can change the world. Headen writes, "Public service is about leadership, management and decision-making-but it boils down to people helping people. If you have a calling for public service, heed it. You will never regret making the choice to devote yourself to the betterment of humanity." Headen is the executive director of Meals on Wheels in Durham. He has an MBA, a certificate in Executive Nonprofit Management, a BS in Sociology, and a degree in Logistics, earned while serving in the U. S. Air Force. He and his wife, Rebecca, a civil rights advocate and attorney, live in Durham.
